  1. Aug 30, 2021 · Simond are an old Chamonix family who have been making good equipment for a long time. In 2008 Simond became part of the Decathlon group and enjoy all the advantages found with economy of scale. In my opinion there are no downsides, buy their kit and enjoy it.

  2. Aug 27, 2015 · I noticed Decathlon's Simond range is much cheaper for climbing equipment than other brands. How does this compare to the main brands (DMM, Wild Country etc.)? Particularly in terms of safety?

  3. Simond gear is guinualy good. It's more catered towards beginning/intermediate climbers, but we do have some nice high end stuff as well. Price/quality wise it's already great, and since I've got an employee reduction of 30% on top of that, I almost exclusively use Simond stuff.

  4. Feb 27, 2019 · I recently bought a Simond 8.9mm 100m rope from Decathlon for a trip to Chulilla. Having been to Chulilla before I wanted to make the most of the 50m routes without having to do intermediate lower offs.

  5. I have only had experience with a scrambling confidence rope from Simond, as well as a few bits of mountaineering clothing - which all performed well - but they are a reliable brand that is omnipresent in the European climbing and alpinism scene.

  6. Sep 23, 2020 · Simond is a long-standing French mountaineering brand, who have been and still are based in the Chamonix Valley. Indeed, anyone who has climbing around Chamonix, or in the French Alps is likely to have seen (or bought themselves!) some of their wide range of gear.

  8. Feb 24, 2019 · I saw that they have some rock climbing gear like the 70m 9.5mm dynamic rope (R2100) in the picture below (which is made in france I might add) but like the other brands, I have never heard of this brand before. Can anyone vouch for the quality? TLDR: Is this Simond rope going to keep me alive?
