Shanghai Fortress (Chinese: 上海堡垒) is a 2019 Chinese science fiction action film directed by Teng Huatao and stars Lu Han and Shu Qi. [1] [2] Based on Jiang Nan's eponymous 2009 sci-fi novel (also translated as Once Upon a Time in Shanghai), the film depicts the human race's last stand in Shanghai fighting against aliens who try to seize a hidden energy source on earth in 2042.
If you want a movie filled with action, with aliens, and good acting I wouldn't recommend Shanghai Fortress. But if you're looking for a decent movie that shines at times not filled with action ...

PennyReviews 17 September 2019. " Shanghai Fortress " was for sure not a memorable movie. Even having watched it two nights ago, I can't even recall the actual point of this movie. The movie had a weak plot. The whole romance was just boring and it didn't add anyting exciting to the plot, as there was zero development.
Jan 28, 2021 · The story is just like any Hollywood alien invasion film. This time, the epicentre of the invasion of the alien mothership was over Shanghai Fortress. The aliens had sent several ships all over Earth to plunder resources that can only be found on our planet. Several countries were fighting their own alien invasion.
