  2. Sadako vs. Kayako (貞子 vs 伽椰子, Sadako bāsasu Kayako) is a 2016 Japanese supernatural comedy horror film directed by Kōji Shiraishi. It is a crossover of the Ju-on and Ring series.

  3. Kayako is more like a drone - she's just the face of a bigger threat (the Ju-On itself) but isn't necessarily conscious. Sadako is far more intelligent and pulls the strings from beyond the grave, with potentially apocalyptic implications.

  4. Ringu book spoilers. My personal take on anything with Sadako is that all versions of the ring story, including the American one, and the silly off shoot manga, are cannon at the same time.

  5. The overall reading order seems to differ between Dark Horse and the Japanese publisher, so I have included both orders. The Birthday Trilogy, not to be mistaken with Ring 0, is a trilogy of shorts that are canon, named "The Casket Floating in the Sky", "Lemon Heart", and "Sadako".

The film received mostly positive reviews. It was a huge step up from the disappointing sequels in both the franchises. There is right now, no information about any sequel, but maybe we do get a sequel featuring Sadakaya, probably as the main antagonist!

The film was first teased as an April Fool's joke but came into production because of positive fan reception.
Nobody won in the film, Sadako and Kayako smashed into each other forming Sadakaya, the most powerful Onyro!
It ends on a cliffhanger. So, we may get a sequel that continues the story of Sadakaya.
To make the film sensibly bring Kayako and Sadako together, it avoids all prequels and sequels and is a reboot of both the franchises.
  6. Jan 13, 2020 · Sadako vs Kayako (2016) Initially suggested as a joke, this clash of the titans between Ring ’s Sadako and Ju-On ’s Kayako has no right to be as good as it is.

  7. Jan 30, 2017 · Sadako vs Kayako plays out like two bite-sized Ringu and Ju-On movies cut together that cross over in the final act. On one side of the story, two high school girls find Sadako’s VHS, and one of them comes under its curse after watching it.
