In each heat, six robots knock several different colours of engine oil out of each other in order to find a winner to go forward to the finals. To do this, two robots are eliminated in the first two rounds and the other three are knocked out individually, leaving one left who is the winner.
The gabbling commentary, by Channel 5 football's Jonathan Pearce, really adds a sense of occasion to the event.
