There are spots for ice skating that feel straight out of a storybook, and trails that welcome cross-country skiers looking for a serene glide through frozen forests.
Jul 31, 2024 · Places to Fish – Ponds, Lakes, and Reservoirs. New Jersey offers more than 400 publicly accessible lakes, ponds and reservoirs. These waters offer a great diversity of fishing opportunities, from abundant populations of panfish to trophy-sized game fish.
Swimming, boating (electric motors only) and fishing are permitted, and boat rentals are available. A network of trails maintained by the New York - New Jersey Trail Conference surrounds the lake; some are multi-use trails, and may be used for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, cross country skiing or snowmobiling.
I enjoyed my walk around some of the easy paved paths of Ringwood State Park. The foliage was mostly past peak, but the scenery was magnificent. There was a small body of water with a bridge and I did observe some places to have a picnic or to have a barbecue.
