      • As a film about racing, the plot is fairly standard fare, but the larger than life presentation coupled with the sheer imagination and creativity that has gone into Redline is second to none. The story - despite cliches - is both exhilarating and incredibly well paced....

  2. Redline is a great anime movie, not in the same way as Your Name or A Silent Voice, there's a big focus on visuals and honestly speaking the story is straightfoward and simple, yet it manages to be present throughout most of the action which I mean as literally as possible because there's enough action for a whole season of a tv anime (That ...

  3. Redline is good because it is an adrenaline rush (and one of the best I have ever seen) but other than that it is a pulp fiction of anime. Notable funky boy the akira reference, the heavy metal-esque space ship scenes and the speed racer plot with star wars aliens.

  4. Apr 6, 2019 · Redline is a racing anime, but nothing like Speed Racer. At first it seems like a classic underdog story about the poor kid rising through the ranks to become a national hero, but it's so much more than that. It's actually, weirdly, a story about rejecting fascism.

  5. The only government in Redline, Roboworld, is characterized as insane and inept, a message that can't possibly resonate with modern experience. Redline is behind the times in a lot of ways--it's a half-baked cake with really good icing.

This is, without a doubt, Redline's biggest strength and it is easy to see why. Obviously, one of the main pillars of what makes a good animeis in how high quality the animation is. While things like story, characters, world building and the like are also crucial to making good anime content, whether TV or film, animation is arguably the most notab...

First and foremost, Redline is primarily a racing anime film. However, another aspect of the movie that makes it even more interesting is the fact that the world and its story is coated with a science fiction backdrop. Looking back on it, the anime probably could have still been fun and interesting if it were set in a realistic world, but it would ...

In part, this is also bolstered by the science fiction setting of the anime movie. Meaning that, since the characters live in a world and universe that has several different species on different planets, you'll see some interesting alien and robot character designs. This also includes unimportant background aliens and the other racers apart from th...

One of the beauties of the anime industry and as a genre, and video games for that matter as well, is that creators can get away with making some absolutely bonkers plots and stories. They are just capable and given a free pass to craft stories and worlds that simply would not be able to fly for people if it were a live action production for film o...

Of course, since this is an anime movie based around the sport of racing, the majority of the action will come from the races themselves. There are some other kinds of action sequences too, but the races are the main appeal. To tie this back to the science fiction setting, that flavor of genre helps make the racing done in the movie much more excit...

Taking into account the nature of the plot and that this is an anime movie that only runs for 102 minutes and not a long-running anime series for TV, the story is naturally going to have a fast pace. But this is definitely an asset to the movie and not a flaw. RELATED: Gurren Lagann: 10 Reasons Why It's A Must-Watch Anime Series Of course, there ar...

For people who don't consider themselves fans of the sport of racing, like Formula One or others, you will most likely still greatly enjoy Redline. This is especially so if you are just an anime fan in general. This reason and entry to the list is essentially a culmination of previous reasons already listed. There is simply so much to enjoy even if...

Like any piece of fiction and/or media in general, chances are that you will need to have fun protagonists to hold the attention of the fans. Thankfully, despite Redline being an anime movie prioritizing style over substance (which it does incredibly well), it gives enough material to the protagonists, in this case, J.P. and Sonoshee. However, betw...

Like a lot of pieces of media, particularly fictional media, the main plot is the most important factor supporting the overall story. But in addition to the main plot of, in this case, a movie, it is most of the time necessary to add in some interesting subplots to keep things interesting and change the pace of the storytelling from time to time. R...

Whether it is in fictional media, nonfictional media, or even sports, everyone seems to love a good underdog. It is always good and fun to see a particular character, team, etc. try their hardest, overcome tremendous odds, and come to perform on a grand stage no one would have thought previously possible. Redline definitely has that kind of a story...

The catch is it was cell drawn, which throws Loony Tunes and classic Disney into perspective. It was in production for 7 years, and it is easy to see why.
