One thing I like about Redline is how the movie takes place in a much larger world. The race is just a marginal event in the world that no one except race fans really care about. There are bigger problems in Redline, like refugees and mining unions that are on strike. Even most of the racers have day jobs like Cops or Superheros or pop idols.
Personally, I believe though though the events are seemingly undirected, the film is highly controlled as well as incredibly intelligent. I also had a strong feeling that there was a deep political or social message underneath the amusing surface and believe it is worth discussing.

Apr 6, 2019 · Redline is a racing anime, but nothing like Speed Racer. At first it seems like a classic underdog story about the poor kid rising through the ranks to become a national hero, but it's so much more than that. It's actually, weirdly, a story about rejecting fascism.
