The series follows teenager Shinichi Izumi, who is one day attacked by a worm-like creature known as a Parasyte. Shinichi’s body is nearly taken over by the parasyte but he barely manages to evade it.

The story itself is somewhat lackluster, making it a forgettable movie. Shows like JJK, Demon Slayer, and BNHA won't be considered masterpieces 10 years down the line. While they look good, the story and/or characters are par for the course in shounen anime. They will be considered classics, but not masterpieces.

It was published between November 1988 and December 1994 and was compiled into a total of ten volumes. An anime television series aired between October 2014 and March 2015, and two live-action movies were released in November 2014 and in April 2015.
I remember hearing a lot of hype for Parasyte when it was first announced for an anime adaptation. Apparently, it was a really popular manga in the 90s about some kid who got his hand infected by an alien parasite – hence the name I suppose, although I’m not sure why the “i” was changed into a “y” – and must now learn to live with it whilst warding off other similar infected ...
