there's a generic fix for mods broken by steampipe. all you need is a mod updated to work for steampipe. copy the gameinfo.txt from that mod and replace the details with those from the Nightmare House 2 gameinfo.txt. NMH2 is an awesome mod so you should definitely play it.
Nightmare House was originally released as a map pack, and later as an installable mod with Nightmare House 2. You can still find the original files over on our Moddb page . Today, you can simply install "Nightmare House: The Original Mod" for free using a Steam client and Half Life 2.

Basic details. I beat this game in about 4 hours. It was scary, quite scary. I recommend playing it on medium difficulty, on full volume with headphones on.
