Oct 28, 2021 · Letter campaign: Nextdoor sends out invite letters. I get about 500 emails a day inviting me to join some website/app or other. The other day, however, I received a semi-personal invite to join an online ‘neighbourhood hub’ called Nextdoor through the post. Yes, a good old-fashioned letter. My first instinct was this is a scam.

At this time of writing, there's a known scam regarding bargain items for gift cards in which advertisements are posted for luxury items that are listed at a "too good to be true" low price.

According to Bauer, this type of scam isn’t unique to Nextdoor: “The scammers [on Nextdoor] are simply using a 21st-century version of an old, effective tactic.”
