   I'd say empire. More factions, a much better tech tree, more factions and they all play differently in the campagin, bigger campagin map, and overall better battle mechanics (NTW looks ALOT nicer though). Napoleon looks better, runs better, has alot less glitches.

   Jul 7, 2022 · Empire units look very similar for most of the factions while I found Napoleon to have more variety in this aspect. However, Empire has more variety in campaign. I don´t use mods, just stock games.

   I think it's quite simple, Empire has the better Campaign experience, while Napoleon has the better battle experience. Personally, I think Fall of the Samurai is even better then those too in almost all regards, but obviously even more limited in scope and also less open.

   If you want to just rush in and play with artillery Napoleon is probably the better option, but if you want a more expansive experience where you can try to conquer far-off lands then Empire might be better if you can put up with the jankiness.

   Apr 28, 2016 · If you get Empire for a super duper sale price, then ok. But really, NTW is much more polished and has more unit options on the tactical screen...like special unit abilities and stuff. Also, the naval aspect is much better in NTW. No, shrapnel shot in NTW though.

   • Others Napoleon contains more historical battles, which are quite fun to play. Siege battle are smoother in Napoleon as the ones in Empire are draggy. NTW should have a larger multiplayer hub, so you can find more battles there. Speak of MPs, you can play MP campaigns in NTW, whereas you can't in ETW.

   Is Empire a good NTW game?

   • Once you've played a full campaign each in NTW as France and then the opposing coalition you've basically seen all the game has to offer. Empire is much more dynamic. Empire has the best economic development mechanics of all the games, but the combat is a bit buggy, especially compared to new TWs. Definitely worth the time if it's on sale for cheap

   • In Napoleon, the time scope is small, so tactics, for the most part, will remain similar. Since Napoleon is set later in the time period, you'll find yourself using more artillery. And the battles are now more fastly paced in NTW since the technology and drills have been improved over time. Cosmetics I have to give this to Napoleon.

   Is empire worth it?

   • Empire can be worth it with mods, Napoleon is enjoyable even in vanilla although mods like LME4 or NTW3 can improve the gameplay of the grand campaign. I didn't really like the new game engine they went with for Shogun 2 and subsequent series. BUT fall of the samurai was really dope. It was the closest we got to a civil war total war.

   Is NTW a good campagin?

   • Napoleon looks better, runs better, has alot less glitches. But the tech tree is pretty much worthless, there is less factions and the main campagin is either you fighting napoleon or being him. Navies are also rather pointless in the campagin. NTW did add alot of new features but alot of them are pointless.
