Lvl 80 wizard here. I suggest going 1h + shield early on. Since you will kvm, gvg a lot in end game, 2h makes you squashy unless you spend on Murphy set etc. F2p - white weapon and shield (highest lvl you can go), or try get blue weapon if you could afford to collect. For armor set, I use lvl80 set for dracula boost (extra aoe to pull mob).
You are right on Murphy set being better than Valkyrie but I highly do not recommend getting Murphy set as well as you need those Guild coins to level up your Shadow Weapon and its stat sets. The great advantage of Valkyrie/Murphy Set is it's value in PVP. Purple armors are more inclined for PVP. So if you plan to play mostly for PVP, Purple is the way to go but if you want the hard and grind game of PVE, Blue Sets Should be enough.
