If you're only going to play one of them, play MGS3. It is as close to perfect as any game can get. If you like it, there's no major story issue going back to MGS1 and continuing on from there.
Dec 19, 2023 · Definitely wait for a discount (currently 38% off in some store, forgot which), but the collection is worth having, only for the fact we can play all these games, finally, on PC, all gathered into a single place, without having to go through too many hoops.
MGS3 does reference certain themes in those games, and it's cool to catch those. But it is perfectly fine to play as a standalone still. You'll still get an outstanding gaming experience.
