Let's be honest, a lot of visitors are as attracted to Pas as much for the après as they are for the ski, and its multitude of lively pubs and bars cater for the predominantly young English-speaking tourists who animate the resort from afternoon happy hours through to the early hours of the morning. Step off the slopes from around 4pm and you'll be...

  2. Montmalus (Grau Roig): Accessible from the Montmalus drag lift, this is a great red that is usually quite quiet. It takes you through some stunning scenery and then back down to Grau Roig. Make sure you go left as you leave the drag lift, otherwise you’ll be off down a steep narrow black!

  4. Grau Roig was sligthly quieter than Pas de la Casa, that's why our favourite run today was Cami de Pessons. This blue run is a beautiful path which takes you to a frozen lake which covers up with snow during winter and the view is just stunning.

  5. The only downside is that the resort is not the most attractive, with purpose-built apartment blocks dominating the skyline. However, there are alternative accommodation options including neighbouring Grau Roig, which provides doorstop access to the Grandvalira slopes and is appreciably quieter.
