Ferdinand grows to be the biggest bull in the herd and he often spends time alone. All the other bulls dream of being chosen to compete in the bullfights in Madrid, but Ferdinand still prefers smelling the flowers instead. One day, five men come to the pasture to choose a bull for the bullfights.
The story, written by Ron Burch, David Kidd, and Don Rhymer, follows a gentle pacifist bull named Ferdinand who refuses to participate in bullfighting but is forced back into the arena where his beliefs are challenged when he faces off against the world's greatest bullfighter.
Ferdinand is a big bull with a big heart who would rather smell flowers than participate in bullfighting. He was mistaken for a dangerous beast and taken from his home to be made into a fighting bull. Ferdinand is voiced by John Cena as an adult and Colin H. Murphy as a calf.
Ferdinand: Directed by Carlos Saldanha. With Jack Gore, Jet Jurgensmeyer, Nile Diaz, Colin H. Murphy. After Ferdinand, a bull with a big heart, is mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home.
In the book, the peaceful Ferdinand is mistaken for the “toughest, meanest bull in all of Spain” after he gets stung by a bee and starts “bucking and jumping and acting like he was crazy.”
When a group of men come to select the fiercest young bull for a bullfight in Madrid, Ferdinand sits on a bee, and his reaction is so intense that the matadors think he is the fiercest bull. However, when he arrives at the bullfight, no one is able provoke him and when he sees all the flowers in the ladies’ hair, he just sits and smells.
Ferdinand is a young bull who escapes from a training camp in rural Spain after his father never returns from a showdown with a matador.
