"Ferb" is revealed to be a shortened version of his real name. On August 16, 2015, Dan Povenmire revealed on Twitter that Ferb's full name is Ferbs, as Vanessa calls him in "Act Your Age". Povenmire added, "I didn't know [that it was Ferb's full name] until Bernie [Petterson] wrote that line and then it made sense to me that Vanessa would know."
Oct 10, 2019 · On Twitter, Povenmire announced that Ferb was actually short for "Ferbs". While the Wikipedia page doesn't link to that tweet, it most likely refers to this one from 30 Augustus 2015: Nope, sorry. It is "Ferbs" from Act Your Age. (He is referring to the episode of that name.)
In "Vanessassary Roughness" Ferb explains that his name is short for something, but he didn't get a chance to say it. On Twitter, Povenmire announced that Ferb was actually short for "Ferbs".
"Ferb" is revealed to be a shortened version of his actual name. The birth-name of the man whom Ferb is named and based on is Frank, so it is likely the same goes with the cartoon Ferb. However, in a video, Dan Povenmire claims that it is short for "Ferbs" (they never said it was A LOT shorter).

I actually searched this question up today when watching Season 2. Dan said that Ferb was short for Ferbs (“What…. I didn’t say it was a lot shorter!" -Dan) So Ferb’s full name would be: Ferbs Fletcher. Edit: Dan = Dan Povenmire (the creator) Because he’s got little legs. Ferbs.
His full name is Ferbs, which Vanessa calls him in “Act Your Age.” Considering the fact that they’ve been dating, and that Ferb did seem to talk to Vanessa most times when they were together, it makes sense that she would know.
