- FF9 is definitely still worth playing, and is still a good game overall, but it does not compare to some of the other games. This review will focus more on the negative aspects of the game which is a reflection of the high standards I have come to expect from the series.

There's still a lot for newcomers; the game's not overly difficult, there's TONS to see and do, lots of minigames, hidden things to find. It's probably still pretty good if it's the first FF you play. But if I were to put together the Machete order of FF games to play, FF9 would be near the end.

9 is my 2nd favorite game in the whole series, after 4. It's always worth playing. Not only does it have my favorite story, but also the best antagonist of the entire series. The gameplay is the best of any of the ATB games (I still feel pure turn-based is the best form of JRPG gameplay in general)

Oct 5, 2017 · This game feels like a home run after almost two decades. The look may be a bit dated, but the gameplay still holds up, and the story still resonates. Final Fantasy IX is certainly worth the time of a first-timer or a nostalgic fan like myself.
