Empire's diplomacy system is trash. No one accepts anything unless you give half of your country. However in NTW diplomacy is far better. Technology sharing is easier. Napoleon's graphics are better too. Also game is one of the best cinematic TW games in my opinion.
Empire is not a very well polished game. But it has a certain charm to it and some great design in certain areas that no other total war game ever had. Huge map, fantastic empire management and economics system, impactful tech progression and a very interesting time period.
Empire is kind of like Napoleon, but with quantity over quality. I'd only recommend Empire for the campaign, the battles are kind of a mess. The main appeal for Empire in 2023 is that it still has the biggest map for a historical game.
Apr 28, 2016 · If you get Empire for a super duper sale price, then ok. But really, NTW is much more polished and has more unit options on the tactical screen...like special unit abilities and stuff. Also, the naval aspect is much better in NTW.
