- The parish church of Elstree, picture right, is dedicated to St Nicholas. A church has existed on the site since 1188 when the first building was founded by the monastery of St Albans. The church was rebuilt in 1360 by Abbot Delamere and became a separate parish independent of the Abbey.

Elstree and Borehamwood is a recent renaming of the ancient parish of Elstree, covering the settlements of Elstree and Borehamwood. Formed in 1894 as the Elstree Parish Council, the local council is Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council.

St Nicholas, Elstree join in 2005 when we became the Parish of Elstree & Borehamwood. The church hall is home to a number of community groups during the week and children's parties at the weekend.
