Edwards is pretty cool but good luck living in the Soviet Republic of California. Live in Palmdale (1hr drive to Main Base) or Lancaster (45min drive to Main Base) if you want a large town with big box stores, restaurants, entertainment or if you want to go to LA on the weekends.

As far as where to live, nearest town is 20-30 minutes away (Rosamond) and it isn't that great. There is a grocery store, Dollar General, Rite-Aid, and some fast food, but not much else. But, if you don't want to live on base it is the closest option.
