   Edwards is pretty cool but good luck living in the Soviet Republic of California. Live in Palmdale (1hr drive to Main Base) or Lancaster (45min drive to Main Base) if you want a large town with big box stores, restaurants, entertainment or if you want to go to LA on the weekends.

   The cities and parks around the base are really the best part about being stationed at Edwards. There are a ton of things to do in a 3.5-hour drive range. With that being said...it's a 20-minute drive to the nearest grocery store that isn't the commissary and a 40-minute drive to the closest Walmart/Target.
