If you really were set on building her up as a mage, her best path option would be Monk ️ Mage ️ Warlock (or Valkyrie with the DLC, but you'd still want to pick up a Warlock certification for the bump to her base magic unless she's gotten good magic level-ups) ️ Dark Knight.

Dark Knight is not a hybrid class. It is a mage class. It is Warlock/Dark Bishop, but mounted. No magic uses X2 which pretty much only matters for spells like meteor and warp but it's still relevant. This is relevant specifically for Dorothea and Hanneman. No mage without Meteor is prioritizing 2x casts over doubled Mov.
