Nov 5, 2013 · Many critics are praising 12 Years a Slave for its uncompromising honesty about slavery. It offers not one breath of romanticism about the ante-bellum South. No Southern gentlemen getting all noble about honor and no Southern belles and their mammies affectionately reminiscing or any of that other Gone With the Wind crap, just an inhuman system.
1) Django Unchained is a “better” movie than 12 Years a Slave. 2) Harold Blood, Samuel L. Jackson (Stephen), and Brad Pitt (Bass): these three form the bedrock of the most original part of my argument. Force of character. Force of personality. (I’ll talk more about this later on). 3) The next part of my argument resides in “excitement”.
12 years is solid. It’s a dead-on depiction of slavery - really sad but worth watching. It’s a great drama and completely different than Django. Django is fiction and pure entertainment. If u want to laugh and enjoy a fun flick, watch Django. If u want a fantastic drama and really enjoy storytelling and great moviemaking, watch 12 years

Django Unchained is the better movie. And based on how much I enjoyed, even though I loved both, Django blows 12 years out of the water. ToryK.
