Diriliş: Ertuğrul, translated as Resurrection: Ertuğrul, [1] is a Turkish historical fiction [2] and adventure television series produced by Mehmet Bozdağ for TRT, starring Engin Altan Düzyatan as Ertuğrul Bey. The show is set in the 13th century and is based on the life of Ertuğrul, the father of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire.

What appears to be accurate, however, is that Ertugrul and Osman really lived and Osman created what would become the Ottoman empire. I'm an American watching this show and I'm really interested in the history. The downfall of the Seljuk empire, Byzantine-Turk-Mongol relations are all true.

They were inspired by Diriliş: Ertuğrul, a 2014 TV series. [ 34 ] [ 35 ] A bust of Ertuğrul was erected in Ordu , Turkey, in 2020. However the bust was removed by local authorities after it was pointed out that it resembled the actor, from the TV series, rather than the historical figure.
