Death Note is amazing at the beginning, but it has some of the worst pacing I've ever seen in an anime. The entire series is an inverted crescendo: things start hard and heavy, and get progressively less interesting as you go on, all leading up to one of the most disappointing endings of all time.
Death Notes's first half (till L's death) was a 9.5/10 for me and the second half was 8.5/10 for me. It was not as people says it is but yeah it does go preety down. Sure the manga does some parts better but the other qualities of the anime version more than makes up for it. (The god tier music , scene direction , voice acting , colours and atmosphere etc.) Scenes are waay more impactfull in the anime. If you got time after that , read the manga afterwards. 1.

Now, I'm aware that the majority of readers likely want to murder me, but put down the butcher knife for a second and hear me out. Death Note starts out promising a thrilling ride to come.
