- No, Codecademy Pro is not worth it if your goal is to get a job. The coursework in Codecademy Pro is not as comprehensive as what you would learn in a coding bootcamp or computer science degree program. Additionally, most employers prefer candidates who have professional experience, which you are unlikely to gain from completing Codecademy Pro.

I'm wondering if the pro account of CodeAcademy is really worth its money to acquire a basic knowledge of the most important languages (i.e. python, R, bash, etc.) That would allow me to start a possible career in bioinfo.
In its current state, is it worth the subscription? Will it give me a leg up in getting a CS-related job, be it with skills on my resume, certifications that may be regarded well, or otherwise? Any and all advice and views would be greatly appreciated.
No. Get a good book and go through it. Codecademy is just tutorial hell as a paid service. It might be. Awhile back, I paid for Codecademy Pro, and my reasoning was if I didn’t spend real hard earned money on something that was an investment in myself, I wouldn’t take my learning seriously.

You can do it all on your own, and one could argue you’ll be an even better programmer after it. If you do want a guided path to a new language or career in coding, I can recommend Codecademy Pro. It’s a big upgrade over the free version, so if you’re serious about learning, consider a membership.
