Child 44 is a 2015 mystery thriller film directed by Daniel Espinosa, written by Richard Price, and based on Tom Rob Smith's 2008 novel of the same name. Unfortunately, Child 44 is not the slam dunk it could have been. It has the talent, it has the story (based on the best-selling novel); all the ingredients necessary for greatness are there. But it also has a plethora of baggage that bogs it down to mediocrity.
In the climactic ending of “Child 44,” Leo confronts Vasili (played by Joel Kinnaman), an ambitious secret police officer involved in the cover-up of the child murders. After a tense confrontation, Leo reveals the truth to Vasili, bringing him to justice.
