BLACK SPURS has a very interesting cast but sadly that's about the only thing the movie has going for it. This is a pretty strange Western to watch and especially when you consider it was 1965. By this time most Westerns like this weren't being made anymore as the story, structure and overall feel of this makes you seem like it would have been better fit in the 1940s.

Unfortunately, despite having a ton of potential, Springsteen's Black Spurs didn't live up to the good natured, mediocre standard set by those other films, and feels both overstuffed and interminable at 80 minutes.
May 19, 2019 · Black Spurs was Darnell’s last film: she died April 10, 1965, one month before the movie was released, after being severely burned in a house fire. Producer Lyles with Linda Terry Moore was listed third, as Anna, Rory’s beloved who ups and marries another (James Best).
