Oct 2, 2022 · Okay, so yesterday I finally got to try my new Betrayal 3rd edition. Being a fan of the 2nd edition, and knowing that this would be the same mechanic, I dived in. I won't be extensive on rules change. There are a few and probably other reviews went by already.
Feb 8, 2022 · My primary take is that Betrayal Legacy isn't great as a legacy game - there is a little carry-over from game to game, but you're mostly just playing separate games of Betrayal (with some unique changes to your specific copy) - there's no real scope for planning out multigame strategies.
The legacy item system is great and is the highlight of playing, so I enjoy playing Legacy more than the others - but it's for an experienced group to enjoy, I wouldn't recommend it as anyone's first Betrayal game (or first Legacy game) and I wouldn't waste a play with noobies either.
Betrayal isn't a good, well designed, or balanced game, by any stretch. Sometimes the rules are fiddly, sometimes they're unclear. It's best to just try and make a call in the moment that will make the most people the most happy, and makes sense in the story, because this game really isn't about strict adherence to the rules.

If you just want to get together with a couple people and play a silly game, Betrayl is a good game. I prefer the Scooby doo edition because I like Scooby doo more than horror movies, but if you like horror, then the regular is fine.
