Oct 30, 2014 · When to Visit Bellagio. You can travel to Bellagio year-round, but the summer months of June – August are the peak times to visit. In the warm weather months, you can fully enjoy Bellagio’s scenery, as well as Lake Como’s natural beauty. During the summer, expect higher hotel prices and more crowds.
- Wander the Streets of Bellagio. Bellagio is small and compact. Many of the roads are pedestrian only, perfect for strolling and exploring. From the waterfront, narrow, cobblestoned streets and walking paths lead uphill through town.
- Get the Perfect View of Bellagio. If you have seen photos of Bellagio on the internet and Instagram, there’s no doubt that you came across this gorgeous view of the town.
- Visit the Basilica of San Giacomo. The Basilica of San Giacomo is a Romanesque church built between the 11th and 12th centuries. It sits right in the center of Bellagio so it makes a quick, worthwhile visit as you stroll through town.
- Melzi Gardens. Villa Melzi was the summer residence of Francesco Melzi d’Eril, the vice president of the Italian Republic that was founded in the 1800’s.
- Stroll the picturesque streets of Bellagio. The best way to discover Bellagio is without a doubt by taking a walk through its picturesque old town center.
- Walk to Punta Spartivento. One of the nicest things you really have to do in Bellagio is walk to Punta Spartivento. It’s the point at the very end of the peninsula, where Lake Como splits into three different branches.
- Enjoy the views along the waterfront promenade. If you walk along the lakeshore in the southwestern direction from the Bellagio harbor, you’ll find some of the nicest views of Bellagio.
- Take a little tourist train. A little tourist train, also called the Bellagio Express, is another nice way to explore Bellagio and the surrounding area.
- Visit Villa Melzi Gardens. Starting off with a spot that has become synonymous with Bellagio and Lake Como in general, Villa Melzi is a 19th-century residence that boasts an enchanting botanical garden and sweeping views of the lake.
- Stroll around the waterfront promenade. Simply wandering along Bellagio’s waterfront promenade and gazing out over Lake Como has always been one of my favorite things to do whenever I visit Bellagio.
- Tour Parco di Villa Serbelloni. Set over almost 50 acres of land, the Villa Serbelloni Park is a sprawling green space sitting on the Bellagio hillside.
- Rent a boat for a private lake tour. If you want to go all out on your Lake Como trip, make sure to rent a private boat to cruise around the lake! These tours don’t come cheap, but if you have the budget, it’s completely worth it.
