Arte’s pan-European cultural connections can be surprising. A large annual summer concerts season, for example, covers operas from 21 houses around Europe, such as Don Giovanni from Salzburg and The Marriage of Figaro from Aix-en-Provence.
I rarely watch TV anymore (aside from sports), but Arte is one of the few channel I still check out. I love the documentaries, the live music and shows like Karambolage or 28 minutes. Definitively one of the best (if not the best) channels available in France.

The channel (the only one in Europe that avoids US-made content) ‘is the largest cultural enterprise ever conceived by two countries and the world’s only entirely bilingual channel’, says Patrick Démerin, former deputy head of Arte’s Thema nights.
