Mar 22, 2023 · Alhazred. The occultist is not a healer. DD1 OCC heal has over 20% higher average heal than divine grace. Imagine wyrd healed for 0-60% and wyrd+ was like 0-75%. Reward, with risk. Also you can zero out the bleed chance in various ways in DD1. So, look: Wyrd, average heal 16.5%, 33% threshold, adds a bleed.
The Occultist can boost his Debuff Resistance by equipping his personal trinket Cleansing Censer or any other similar trinkets to have a greater chance of avoiding harmful Tokens. As the Occultist unlocks his skills, he will gain access to substantially more devastating skills such as Malediction, Anamnesis, and The Burning Stars.
Occultist taken individually is a very weird and unbalanced character, and it's not surprising he's the last character to unlock. Trying to use him as your main healer supporting for example a HWM - MAA frontline is asking for trouble, which is why taking PD or RA with him as well makes sense.
