In its own right, I think Portal 2 is an exceptionally good game. I can't think of any other game that as well as Portal 2 combines interesting, fun, and rather unique gameplay, with an intriguing story, driven forward by really nicely written dialogue presented by probably the best voice acting I've ever heard in a video game.

Portal 2 is generally regarded as better than Portal 1 as it's longer (but still beatable in one sitting), has more character interactions, and generally has a stronger narrative that makes the humor hit harder. I cannot recommend you play Portal 2 enough if you liked the first game.
