Jan 24, 2023 · Pressure gauges can be calibrated in two ways. The first method involves sending the device to a dedicated calibration lab. This means experts will ensure the gauge is properly and accurately calibrated. The second method requires a hand-held pressure calibrator.
Pointer motion will be slowed at the low end of the low end of these temperature ranges. 1.7 Mounting – Users should predetermine how the gauge will be mounted in service: stem (pipe), wall (surface) or panel (flush). Ashcroft wall or panel mounting kits should be ordered with the gauge. See Section 3.

May 14, 2021 · Pressure gauges must be serviced on a regular basis to ensure that they offer accurate and dependable pressure readings. Aside from frequent calibration, pressure gauges require little maintenance.
- Select the Right Gauge. Before you pull out a wrench, first make sure you have the right type of gauge for the application. The pressure gauge you choose must be the correct one for the
- Apply Force on Wrench Flats. Once you’ve chosen the correct gauge, pay attention to how you install the gauge. Rather than turning the case by hand, use an open-end wrench and apply force to the wrench flat.
- Seal the Deal. Notice the type of threads on the gauge before you seal it. If the gauge has parallel threads, seal it using sealing rings, washers, or WIKA sealing rings (crush rings).
- Use a Clamp Socket or Union Nut with Straight Thread. When tapered threads are used, the installer has the luxury of adjusting the gauge even after sufficient torque has been applied.
- Types of Pressure Gauges. For more detailed information on types of pressure gauges read How to Select Pressure Sensors. Differential pressure is measured by reading the difference between the inputs of two or more pressure levels.
- Pressure Gauge Specifications. Working pressure range is the maximum allowable pressure at which a system or piece of equipment is designed to operate safely.
- Scale Specifications Criteria. Scale Type. The scale is located on the face of the analog pressure gauge. Scale can help determine accuracy, with smaller scales leading to more accurate readings.
- Sensor Technology. For more detailed information on sensor technologies read How to Select Pressure Sensors. Mechanical deflection uses an elastic or flexible element to mechanically deflect with a change in pressure, for example a diaphragm, Bourdon tube, or bellows.
Dec 17, 2011 · First, before any instrument is removed from a system, it is important to verify the system has been de-pressurized, the gauge is a safe temperature to handle, and it is free of any toxic or hazardous process media.
All pressure gauges should be placed in dry storage under ambient room temperatures. It is recommended to store pressure gauges in their original packing boxes. Temperatures The normal ambient temperature ranges are -40°C to 120°C (-40°F to 250°F) for dry gauges and -20°C to 65°C (-4°F to 150°F) for glycerin filled gauges.
