Mar 18, 2024 · An old olive grove that dates back to the Middle Ages , located in the Bidnija area on Malta Island was sampled by collecting randomly young leaves, taking them from both the upper part (samples named B1–B12 in Table 1) and the lower part of the crown (samples named G1–G12 in Table 1) three feet above the ground and analyzed separately.
The Bidnija olive grove (Iz-˙ Zebbu˙ g ˙ tal-Bidnija - Bidni means olive in Maltese) comprises 20 veteran trees (Fig. 1A) located close to the village of Bidnija, 3 km north-west of the town of Mosta in northern Malta.
