Aug 18, 2023 · Keep your hot tub water clean and bacteria-free by replacing it with fresh water every three months – or more often if you use your hot tub more than four times a week. Be sure to read our Ultimate Guide on Draining your Hot Tub for the easiest steps to change and refill your hot tub water.
May 25, 2020 · Thankfully, there’s a way to properly clean your hot tub without the help of a pool service expert—the easy and cost-efficient way. I’ll explain what sanitizing chemicals you need, how to choose them, how much to use, and finally, how to add them to your spa to keep it safe—and sparkling clean, too.
For best results, check on the TA every three to four weeks. Do Clean the Filter. Your hot tub filter is responsible for trapping all the oils and hair from your bathers. If you ignore your filter, it may clog up and stop working, in which case you’ll have a grubby tub and murky water on your hands.

Aim to maintain a chlorine level of 3 to 5mg/l at all times. How frequently you add more chlorine will depend on your usage and bathing habits. It could be daily, every two to three days or weekly. For 1mg/l, add 2g per 1000 litres. Top tip: 10ml = approximately 10g.
Even if you don’t use it daily, you should clean your hot tub weekly. Check the chemical balance at least once, because the pH should remain between 7.2 and 7.6, while chlorine or bromine levels should be within the recommended range for your water treatment system.
The answer is yes. Have you ever looked in a pond, or a river, and noticed how cloudy it is? Maybe you noticed an unpleasant smell? Sanitization and shocking prevents this from happening to your hot tub. It keeps your hot tub water clear and odor free.
