The Ridgeway National Trails's western start/end point is at Overton Hill, near the Avebury stone circle in Wiltshire, and its eastern terminus is at Ivinghoe Beacon, in the Chilterns. Unlike the South Downs Way, which has very easy accessible end points to the trail, The Ridgeway is a bit more challenging to get to, at least via public transport.
The Ridgeway National Trail is 87 miles (140 km) long. However, because most of the trail follows the top of a ridge (hence the name Ridgeway), most accommodation options are down in the valleys below, requiring an extra mile or so of hiking to and from the trail.
