You can'tupgrade your VM if the VM uses local SSD or is a member of a managed instancegroup (MIG). Can I resize my VM's bootdisk?

To decrease the disk size, you must create a new disk with a smaller size. Untilyou delete the original, larger disk, you are charged for both disks. If you're really new to GCP, I highly recommend you read up on how billing works and what kinds of alerting you can set up. I wouldn't proceed with doing anything before that or you run the risk of running up an excessive bill on your card without knowing what hit you.
