Mar 25, 2020 · Just off the south of France, and closer to the coast of Italy, the small, mountainous island of Corsica lies in wait for the three million tourists that visit its shores each year. Few places in Europe have such varied landscapes, from sweeping white-sand beaches and deep gorges, to towering mountains and otherworldly coastal cliffs.
- Beach of Ostriconi. Location / Access. Beach of North Corsica, south of the Agriates desert. Small detour from the main road to Saint-Florent and 5min walk to the beach.
- Beach of Tamaricciu. Location / Access. South Corsica, near Porto-Vecchio. 5 min walk from the parking along the coastal road. Why visit this beach? Although Palombaggia is the most famous, we prefer Tamaricciu.
- Beach of Palombaggia. Location / Access. South Corsica, near Porto-Vecchio. Bumpy parking and short walk to the beach. Why visit this beach? White sand, shallow turquoise water, pine trees and deep orange-red rocks.
- Beach of San Giovanni. Location / Access. South Corsica. West of Bonifacio, bay of Figari. Why visit this beach? It is a sort of “secret place”. You need to know where you are going to find it.
The island is 183 km (114 mi) long at its longest, 83 km (52 mi) wide at its widest, has 1,000 km (620 mi) of coastline, with more than 200 beaches such as Paraguano. Corsica is very mountainous, with Monte Cinto as the highest peak at 2,706 m (8,878 ft), and around 120 other summits of more than 2,000 m (6,600 ft).
