Law 4: The Players' Equipment. Law 5: The Referee. Law 6: The Other Match Officials. Law 7: The Duration of the Match. Law 8: The Start and Restart of Play.
- The Playing Field. When it comes to the soccer field (also known as a soccer pitch), playing on grass or artificial turf is permitted. The color of the artificial turf must be green.
- The Ball. The standard for a soccer ball is a sphere constructed of leather or a similar suitable material. The soccer ball needs to be 27-28 inches in circumference and must weigh 14-16 ounces at the start of the match.
- The Number of Players. There must be a maximum 11 players on the field for each team, and the goalie is one of them. A forfeit occurs when one team does not have seven players available to play.
- Player’s Equipment. All players must wear cleats, socks, shorts, a shirt with sleeves, and shin guards. The entire shin guards must be hidden by the socks.
- The Field of Play. There are very few fixed dimensions for soccer fields, even at the highest level. FIFA only stipulates that for professional 11-versus-11 competition, the length must be between 100 yards and 130 yards and the width between 50 and 100 yards.
- The Soccer Ball. The circumference of a soccer ball must not be more than 28 inches (70 centimeters) and not less than 27 inches. The ball, as used by ages 12 and above, may not weigh more than 16 ounces and not less than 14 ounces at the start of a match.
- The Number of Players. A match is played by two teams. Each team may have no more than 11 players on the field at any one time, including the goalkeeper.
- The Players' Equipment. This rule outlines the equipment that players may and may not wear, including jewelry and clothing. A standard uniform consists of a shirt, shorts, socks, shoes, and shinguards.
