Sep 22, 2023 · Picture a Day Like This is the fourth collaboration between George Benjamin and Martin Crimp, whose acclaimed partnership produced Written on Skin, Lessons in Love and Violence, and Into the Little Hill. The 60-minute opera is cast in seven scenes and scored for five voices (S-S-MS-Ct-Bar) and twenty-two instrumentalists.
Convinced of his own ugliness, Cyrano offers to act as go-between, setting in motion a poignant and often hilarious love triangle in which each character is torn between the lure of physical attraction and the seductive power of words. Cyrano de Bergerac in this adaptation was first performed at the Playhouse Theatre, London on 27 November 2019.
