Jul 19, 2023 · Salary in the British Army is made up of three parts – core salary (which is based on rank) plus the supplement or step rate, plus the X-Factor. On this page, you can find pay charts for all British Army ranks and for each step within that rank.
Current rates of pay for Soldiers just starting out in these ranks are: Recruits & Privates: £25,200 a year. Lance Corporal: £32,615 a year. Corporal: £37,861 a year. Sergeant: £42,510 a year. You can find specific pay details for each role on Rolefinder.
Core pay is linked to rank, with a set number of increments at each rank accessed by personnel on an annual basis, on a date linked to promotion to that rank. On promotion personnel will receive a minimum 2% increase in pay.
