    • Muladhara Chakra – Root Chakra. Symbol: The Root Chakra symbol consists of a 4-petalled lotus flower, a square, and a downward-facing triangle. Each element is said to represent the 4 aspects of the human mind, uniting to form the birth of the human consciousness.
    • Svadhishthana Chakra – Sacral Chakra. Symbol: The symbol for the Svadhishthana Chakra or Sacral Chakra is made up of multiple circles, a crescent moon, and six lotus flower petals.
    • Manipura Chakra – Solar Plexus Chakra. Symbol: The Solar Plexus Chakra symbol consists of a downward-pointing triangle within a ten-petalled lotus flower.
    • Anahata Chakra – Heart Chakra. Symbol: In the Heart Chakra symbol, two triangles intersect to form a yantra which represents the balance of yin and yang, or upward and downward forces.

    • Mountain Pose [Root chakra] This pose involves you standing up straight with your knees slightly bent and your feet spread apart enough so you don’t feel off balance, while moving your shoulders back slightly and breathing slowly.
    • Knee-to-Chest [Sacral chakra] Done while you’re laying down, this pose will find you pulling one or both of your knees to your chest, so you look like you’re curling up into a ball.
    • Spinal twist [Solar plexus chakra] The spinal twist is done while sitting on a mat or a chair and aims to zero in on your belly button. “As you stay tall while sitting, point your knees, hips and toes in one direction,” Bar says.
    • Fan pose [Heart chakra] A modified version of the fish pose, the fan pose aims to open your chest up. “You’re opening up like a fan,” Bar says. “Put your hands behind you and hold the seat back with straight arms, while you’re seated.
    • Muladhara Chakra. Element: Earth. Color: Red. Mantra: LAM. Location: Base of the spine between the anus and genitals. How it affects the body: The Muladhara Chakra influences the health of the bones, teeth, nails, anus, prostate, adrenals, kidneys, lower digestive functions, excretory functions, and sexual activity.
    • Swadishthana Chakra. Element: Water. Color: Orange. Mantra: VAM. Location: Situated at the base of the pubis between the genitals and the sacral nerve plexus.
    • Manipura Chakra. Element: Fire. Color: Yellow. Mantra: RAM. Location: At the level of the umbilicus corresponding to the gastric or solar plexus. How it affects the body: Manipura Chakra deals with a sense of belonging, mental understanding of emotions, and defines self-esteem in an individual.
    • Anahata Chakra. Element: Air. Colors: Green or pink. Mantra: YAM. Location: On the cardiac plexus in the region of the heart. How it affects the body: Anahata Chakra affects a person’s social identity and influences traits like trust, forgiveness, unconditional love, wisdom, compassion, and issues of the soul.
