  4. Possibly. If you consider check in the time spent at the bag drop desk then that shouldn't take three hours. If check in is the process from walking into the terminal building and all that goes after until you walk into the lounge prior to the flight then that could take anywhere from one to two hours.

You're not technically a connecting passenger if you've booked two separate flights.
