  2. You can apply for NHS LSF by creating an NHS Learning Support Fund account. You'll keep this account and will need to reapply each year. You need to apply within 6 months of the start of the academic year. You should not apply on any other systems as your application will be rejected.

    Information for students and higher education institutions about the NHS Bursary Scheme rules that apply for the academic year 2023 to 2024.

    The NHS Bursary Scheme new rules (12th edition) are for the academic year from 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024.

    They apply to:

    •medical and dental students (bursary-eligible study years)

    •continuing nursing, midwifery and allied health professions postgraduate students who started their course on or after 1 August 2017 but before 1 August 2018

    •continuing students on dental hygiene and dental therapy courses (included in the capped numbers commissioned by Health Education England or NHS England) who started their course on or after 1 August 2017 but before 1 August 2019
