Offenders serving determinate sentences of 12 weeks or more, with certain exceptions for violent and sexual offenders, may also be eligible for release on a home detention curfew (HDC). This allows an offender to be released up to 180 days before their automatic release date.

When you leave prison, your conviction will be unspent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act for at least 2 years (the time will depend on the length of your sentence). This means it will be disclosed on all levels of criminal record check, and when applying for jobs you’ll need to disclose it to an employer if asked.
The prison will decide how often and how long your RDR can be. This may be shorter and less often to start with and then increase. RDR to maintain family ties will usually be limited to once every 14 days.
