      • The album is ballad heavy and arguably represents the band’s finest collection assembled on the one disc; ‘Tiny Tears’, ‘A Night In’, ‘No More Affairs’, ‘Talk to Me’ and ‘Mistakes’ are all uniformly impressive, the last-mentioned of these boasting such a strong arrangement that Stuart Staples feels confident enough to do away with lyrics and sing wordless passages of ‘la dur dur dums’ in his deep baritone at various junctures.

  2. Apr 3, 2014 · On a number of levels, Tindersticks Second Album is a continuation of where the band left off at the end of their début eighteen months earlier. The orchestral grandeur is there, the lovelorn tales, the dirt and grime, the heartache, pain, clanging interludes - even the album’s title is the same, or at least equally absent.

    • The First Tindersticks Album. “An incredible album, surely one of the most accomplished, fully realised debuts of any artist. This was praised to the heavens by the British music press when it originally came out, so I ignored it, our music press being a bunch of illiterate, tasteless vermin.”
    • Tindersticks 2. “The second Tindersticks album feels like more of the same compared to the first one. This is fair enough – what the first album offered was pretty good – except that the consistency is less this time around, and the album feels padded out a little in a way which the previous album didn’t.
    • Curtains. “With this album the original magic was lost for good, even though the ingredients are mostly in place, particularly the miraculous singing.
    • The Something Rain. “A great surprise, brilliant really, this album is ultra cool and awfully powerful. It’s mostly made of jazzy lounge-rock and vocals that lift it above ordinary with lyrics that turn in odd directions and don’t look back.

  4. Oct 11, 2006 · I picked up the "Working For The Man" best of collection from the remaster series, which like the others is a 2-CD set, the second disc in this case 17 b-sides and rarities. I got it mostly for that second disc since I have 3 of the 5 albums it's from, but also wanted to hear a sample of the remasters, even though I thought the originals are fine.

  5. Tindersticks is the second album by the British alternative band Tindersticks, released in 1995. It is often referred to as The Second Tindersticks Album to distinguish it from the band's first album, which was also called Tindersticks. It reached no. 13 in the UK Album Chart. [1]

  6. Jan 14, 2016 · However little the success has translated stateside, Tindersticks was great from the beginning and remains great today, as evidenced by the band’s strong and inventive new LP The Waiting Room...

  7. May 9, 1994 · The first track is excellent but it is the second side that had me totally focused, and often delighted by what I heard. Some of the most haunting music there is almost chillingly beautiful. There is also enough variation to maintain my interest throughout.
