My 3960x threadripper has done a pretty good job, although I do tend to really have to adjust each games settings before it starts to run flawlessly. That being said, Intel's new CPUs are fantastic for RPCS3

If it's been a long time, it might be worth trying a recent build of RPCS3 to see if your performance issues are ironed out. If you're primarily interested in MGS3, I'm pretty sure PCSX2 has a 60fps patch available for Subsistence if you wanna try that out.

RPCS3 performs well when running on powerful Intel and AMD based laptops. We recommend laptops with a CPU that has at least 8 cores with AVX-512 as well as a GPU with vulkan compatibility. Expect highly variable performance on laptops with less than 8 cores or low-power chipsets.
Amazing how good RPCS3 has gotten. Weird inconsistency in the video. Sliding comparisons have the newer version on the left, but static comparisons have the newer version on the right.
