Unable to remember her previous life, Yuki's first memory as a human was of her being saved by Kaname. Yuki then spent the next ten years of her life living as Kaien's adopted daughter whilst Kaname was placed under the watch of the Ichijo family and the Vampire Council.

Yuki, through Kaname and her own experience once he was gone, learned what vampire society was really like, especially as a pureblood. She continued to work towards Kaname's goal of getting rid of it, but she came up with the idea of using the cure instead of just straight up killing them all.
Yuuki is born in secret. Kaname begins to go outside, finds the rose that only blooms every 10 years, returns to tell Yuuki the next time he sees it he'll encase it in resin for her. Rido learns of Yuuki, finds Kuran Residence, accompanied by Vampires from the Senate. Haruka faces Rido, is killed.
