  3. Granville Sharp. One of the 12 men who formed the Committee for Effecting the Abolition of the African Slave Trade in 1787 at 2 George Yard was Granville Sharp (from 1735 to 1813). Sharp was a civil servant who devoted much of his life to campaigning against slavery.
